David M. Handy

For more than a decade, David has been creating perfectly unique events for his clients throughout New England. As the principal designer for H&D Events, David brings his creative style to each and every client, from non-profit and corporate events to weddings and social gatherings. His travels and urban adventures, as well as his cosmopolitan lifestyle and the beauty found within his own Nantucket home, have each brought distinctive inspiration to his designs.

David has been fortunate to establish relationships with top event vendors along the East Coast, ensuring his clients access to the very best in event design. Prior to moving to Nantucket, David enjoyed teaching floral design courses at the renowned Flower School of New York, which attracts students from around the globe. When not at work planning and designing events, David likes to travel as well as host and entertain at home with his husband, Donald.

Donald J. Dallaire

COO, Production + Design

Donald grew up on the East Coast in a little town called Warren, RI. A graduate of the University of Rhode Island, Donald studied performance and theatrical design which ultimately led him to his love for event planning and production.

He discovered Nantucket in 2008 when he washed ashore as a performer and designer for the Theater Workshop of Nantucket. After immediately falling in love with the island, he became determined to make it part of his life. Donald was fortunate to become a part of the team that rebuilt the historic Dreamland Theater, where he worked as both the Director of Special Events and Operations before leaving the theater to join his husband David.

Donald’s extensive background in theater, design, and event management gives him the necessary tools to ensure that each event is produced and executed both professionally and creatively. After all, every event is a production!


Katie Hughes

Senior Event Producer

While growing up in Minnesota, Katie stumbled upon the beautiful island of Nantucket after living in New York, City for 3 years. As the Manager of Darya Salon and Spa, she was responsible for running one of the top salons on island. During her time there, Katie had the pleasure of working with numerous brides to help make sure their beauty needs were met for the most important day of their lives!

It was her love of weddings, organization and attention to detail that lead her to Handy & Dallaire Events. While she is somewhat of a perfectionist when it comes to planning, Katie’s favorite part of wedding and event planning is the personal relationships she develops with her brides and families to make sure they have the best day, exceeding all expectations!
